The Powertrains

In total, there are four powertrains available for the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They go from capable to mind-blowingly incredible! Up first, the standard Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 that creates 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Next is the available 5.7-liter V8 that generates 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. You will find these engines powering the first five trim levels in the lineup.

The SRT houses a 6.4-liter V8 that deploys 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque with Fuel Saver Technology. This stellar engine goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, covers the quarter-mile in 12.8 seconds and boasts a top speed of 160 miles per hour.

Under the hood of the Trackhawk is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that kicks out 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. This engine sends the Grand Cherokee sailing from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 3.5 seconds and blows past the quarter-mile mark in 11.6-seconds with a top speed of 180 miles per hour.

Drive Modes

The Grand Cherokee can be outfitted with a Selec-Terrain Traction Management System which allows the driver to handle whatever they encounter when out and about with modes including Sport, Snow, and Sand/Mud. The Traihawk model adds an additional Rock mode for those tricky trails.

Both the SRT Trackhawk models are equipped with five dynamic drive modes so drivers can personalize their experience behind the wheel. These drive modes control the steering, suspension, stability control, paddle shifters, transmission, and 4WD system. The five drive modes include Auto, Sport, Track, Tow, and Snow.

4x4 Systems

The Grand Cherokee offs four available 4x4 systems that can tackle whatever you come up against. The entry-level Quadra-Trac 1 system is great for most drivers as it doesn’t require any driver intervention. Step up to the Quadra-Trac II system for more capabilities. This system is configured with a two-speed low transfer case that utilizes input from sensors to eliminate tire slip as fast as possible.

The SRT and Trackhawk models use a full-time 4x4 system and the strongest transfer case ever created by Jeep. This system also features electronic limited-slip differential, a massive mechanical wet clutch so that 100% of the drive torque can be sent to one rear wheel if needed.
