Your Vehicle Maintenance Check List

Brought to you by DCH Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Temecula

We know you love the way your new Jeep Wrangler handles on the trails, and we want to keep your beloved Jeep performing at peak levels, which is why we have compiled a maintenance checklist for you. The best way to keep your Dodge Challenger running at optimal levels is by completing routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and replacing your air filter. Your Jeep Grand Cherokee also needs long term maintenance done on it like having your spark plugs changed, transfer case fluid changed, and shocks inspected. Learn about all the maintenance your vehicle needs by continuing on down below.

Short Term Check-Ups

Tread Depth & Tire Rotation

You should be checking your tire depth and the way your tires are wearing every couple of months. You can easily check on your tire depth by completing the penny test. What is the penny test? Well, the penny test is when you insert a penny with Abe's head facing down and checking to see where your tread falls on his head. If you can see all of the former presidents head then you need a new set of tires. If the top of his head is barely cover than you should start considering a new set soon. To help prolong the life of your tires you need to have your tires rotated. If you drive a rear-wheel-drive Dodge Charger you'll notice your rear tires will wear differently than your front tires, because your front tires are handling the steering while your rears handle the power. A tire rotation helps even the wear pattern out. It also helps even wear of front-wheel-drive vehicle that can burn through front tires a lot faster than the rear ones if you don't rotate them.

Oil Changes

We know you are aware of the fact you need to keep your engine healthy by having your oil changed at the manufacturer's recommended mileage or month marker if you don't drive that often. We just thought we would remind you that we're happy to change your oil.

Air Filter

Air is regulated to your engine with the help of your air filter. Your engine needs proper airflow to be able to keep from overheating. Your air filter also makes sure that debris doesn't make its way into your engine. Having your air filter replaced helps your engine run smoother, which in turn helps you save on fuel, keeps your engine healthy, and reduces your emissions.

Long Term Check-Ups

Transmission Flush

Just like your engine needs fresh clean oil your transmission also needs fresh fluids after a number of miles. The transmission fluid helps lubricate your transmission and keeps it working in tip-top shape. Both automatic and manual transmission vehicles need their fluids flushed and replaced to avoid damage.

Transfer Case Fluid

Your 4x4 Jeep Gladiator uses a transfer case to shift power from the transmission to the axles. Your transfer case has a big job on its hands and its fluids need to be checked after a certain number of miles. You can check when you need to have them checked by giving our service advisors a call or by checking your owner's manual.

Inspect Shocks and Struts

The shocks and struts on your Jeep Cherokee help reduce the impact of driving over bumps in the road. They are also an important aspect of your vehicle steering system. In most cases you should have your shocks and struts inspected every 50,000 miles or when you notice a creaking when you go over bumps or it is no longer as smooth to drive over bumps.
