2019 RAM 1500 vs 2019 Ford F-150 near Murrieta, CA

Have you been looking for a large truck that has tons of power and capabilities to boot? Then we might have suggestions that would be right up your alley. The 2019 RAM 1500 and the Ford F-150 are both great options that are sure to get you where you're going and then get any jobs done one you're there. Just in case that's not enough to narrow things down for an easy decision though, keep reading as we're going to compare what each of them brings to the table as far as power and features are concerned. And that might just help you decide which is right for you.

2019 RAM 1500 Power & Handling

The 2019 RAM 1500 comes with the choice between two stellar powertrains, both offering the power and ability to prepare you to get just about any work done you might need it for. The 1500's standard engine comes in the form of a 3.6-liter V6 with horsepower reaching 305 and torque going up to 296 pound-feet. And just in case that doesn't sound like enough to meet your needs, then available for all but the HFE trim is the 5.7-liter V8 engine that reaches and even more astounding 305 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Each powertrain comes standardly equipped with a 3.21 axle ratio, rear-wheel drive, and 8-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel-drive is also available, though again with the exclusion of the HFE trim.

2019 Ford F-150 Power & Handling

The engine that comes standard on the 2019 Ford F-150 is a 3.3-liter V6 that comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which together are able to manage 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. There are other options for those who would prefer something different though. The other options include a 2.7-liter V6 with its 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, a 5-liter V8 that reaches 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, a turbocharged 2.5-liter V6 that pushes all the way to 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, and lastly a diesel-powered turbocharged 3-liter engine that reaches 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. Each engine has the option to replace the 6-speed transmission with a 10-speed automatic as desired.

2019 RAM 1500 Features & Design

With seven feature-heavy trim levels to choose between, each being even more well-equipped than the last, the 2019 RAM 1500 allows you to pick a version that would work the best for you so that every time you're behind the wheel is your new favorite driving experience. The Tradesman, the workhorse and most basic of the 1500's trims, isn't actually that basic given its 6-speaker audio system, vinyl flooring and upholstery, push-button start, class III hitch receiver, rearview camera, 5-inch touchscreen, automatic headlights, USB ports, steel 18-inch wheels, an auxiliary audio jack, locking tailgate, and a 40/20/40-split folding rear bench. The step up to the HFE trim is a small one, but it will see the 1500 gain improved fuel efficiency and rear-wheel drive. The Big Horn trim adds additional features in the form of 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, tinted windows, carpeted flooring, and a 40/60-split rear folding bench while also allowing for optional features like an 8.4-inch touchscreen, 20-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, air suspension, power-adjustable pedals, LED head- and taillights, and side steps. The Rebel trim level brings with it more off-roading focused features such as specialized off-roading tires, LED headlight, class IV hitch receiver, fortified suspension and shocks, electronic-locking rear axle, front tow hooks, a 115-volt outlet, fog lights, power-adjustable driver seat, 3.92 axle ratio, inlarged driver information display, and satellite radio. The Laramie trim level starts adding features that are a bit more luxurious such as keyless entry, rear parking sensors, heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, power-adjustable pedals, 40/20/20-split front bench, and front seating that's both heated and ventilated. The Longhorn trim ups the amount of creature comforts with features such as an onboard navigation system, 20-inch wheels, rear ventilated and heated seats, spray-in bedliner, tailgate power release, and automatic high beams. The Limited has the honor of being the 1500's final trim, which sees it gain a chrome exterior trim, premium-leather bucket seats, rear cross-traffic alerts, blind-spot monitoring, power-retractable side steps, and an adjustable air suspension.

2019 Ford F-150 Features & Design

The 2019 Ford F-150 offers only five trims to choose between, which is still impressive to a degree but a reduction compared to the choices offered by the RAM 1500. The F-150's most basic trim is the XL, which comes with trailer sway control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, air conditioning, 17-inch wheels, 4.2-inch central display, vinyl flooring, pre-wired trailer connection, rearview camera, automatic headlights and high beams, and a driver information display. The XLT trim gains an 8-inch touchscreen that's smartphone integration capable, rear privacy glass, fog lights, alloy wheels, chrome bumpers keypad entry, added interior storage, and Ford Pass Wi-Fi. The Lariat trim will give the F-150 keyless entry, driver-seat memory settings, leather upholstery, 18-inch wheels, keyless ignition, automatic dual-zone climate control, a trailer hitch, ventilated front seats, and ambient lighting. The Platinum trim adds even more luxury with power-deployed running boards, 20-inch wheels, and interior accents done in wood and aluminum. The Limited, which is the F-150's final trim, gains upgraded leather upholsery, 22-inch wheels, and an extended fuel tank.

Conclusions

While each of these vehicles has a lot to bring to the table, some of which is even similar to an extent, we're going to have to give our choice to the 2019 RAM 1500 for the best pick between it and the F-150. There may be more available engines to choose between for the F-150, but of those only the highest end options seem able to reliably meet or exceed either of the 1500's two engine options. The opposite is true when it's the vehicles' features being examined. The 1500 has more options to choose from when considering its various trim levels and each trim level simply seems to have more added than what any of the F-150's trims add. So if you came to this page undecided about which way to go, maybe now you'll feel similarly to us that the 2019 RAM 1500 is the way to go.
