2021 Jeep Cherokee vs Chevrolet Equinox

While buying an SUV is an exciting time, it can also be incredibly stressful. After all, there are so many makes and models out there it can be hard to know which one is best for you and your family. This is where we here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM cone in! We have taken two of the most popular SUVs out there right now in the 2021 Jeep Cherokee and the Chevrolet Equinox, and compared them. While both of these vehicles have a ton of terrific assets, which one has the advantage? For the answer, you're going to want to keep reading.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

There are three engines available for the 2021 Cherokee, and each one is powerful. Most trims of the massive SUV will come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that pumps out 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. Moving up to the Latitude Lux trim brings a couple of great engine options. There is a 3.2-liter V6 that delivers 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. Next is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and a terrific 295 lb-ft of torque. All engines come with a nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive with the option of four-wheel-drive. Four-wheel-drive comes standard on the Trailhawk. You'll never be short on power with the 2021 Cherokee.

2021 Chevrolet Equinox Power & Handling

Unfortunately, there is only one engine option available for the Equinox. It's a serviceable turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that pumps an amazing 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. The engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission. Compared with Cherokee, the Equinox has front-wheel-drive with the option of four-wheel-drive on every trim except the L. If you're looking for power, you're better off with the Cherokee and its three impressive engine options.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

There are five trims available for the 2021 Cherokee, and each has some amazing features. Starting things off is the Latitude, which brings power front windows, exterior mirrors with a heating element, supplemental turn signals, courtesy lamps, a rearview camera, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Latitude Plus builds on this with heated front seats, premium-wrapped heated steering wheel, remote start, keyless entry, and push-button start. The most luxury items can be found with the Latitude Lux as it has premium features such as Nappa leather seats, power front seats with power lumbar adjuster, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Meanwhile, you can find unique off-road features with the Trailhawk trim as it comes with an advanced all-wheel-drive system, wider wheels and all-terrain tires, and increased ground clearance. Last up is the Limited, which rounds things out with leather upholstery, an upgraded driver display in the gauge cluster, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen.

2021 Chevrolet Equinox Features & Design

There is one less trim level available for the 2021 Equinox, and so there are fewer features. The first trim available is the L, which has 17-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, a height-adjustable driver's seat, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LS adds to this with rear floor mats, a compact spare tire, and rear privacy glass, while the LT brings upgraded headlights, added chrome and body-colored exterior trim, satellite radio, and an upgraded driver information screen. A few packages are available for the LT, including the Confidence and Convenience package that has a remote engine start, dual-zone automatic temperature control, heated front seats, and a power liftgate. The highest trim is the Premium, which finalizes the features list with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, and a wireless charging pad.

Conclusion:

There is a lot to like about both of these SUVs, but we will give the victory to the 2021 Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee comes with three powerful engine options instead of one, and the five trim levels offer more features than the Equinox's four. Are you interested in taking a test drive of the Cherokee?
