2021 Jeep Gladiator vs Chevrolet Colorado

There are a lot of options when choosing a midsize pickup truck. And since a vehicle is often times the second largest investment of someone's life, you want to make this decision carefully. The most helpful way to make the best decision is to compare trucks side-by-side. This is why we've taken the 2021 Jeep Gladiator and Chevy Colorado and put them head to head so you can compare their specifications and make an informed decision. In 2020, Jeep made waves by taking the open-air concept, off-road capability, and appearance from the Wrangler and adding a five-foot truck bed to the back. The Chevy Colorado offers three available engines and just one trim that provides some off-road capability. Keep reading below to get an in-depth look at these two impressive trucks. 2021 Jeep Gladiator Power & Handling

Two engines are available for the 2021 Jeep Gladiator. The standard engine is a 3.6L Pentastar V6 that provides drivers with a highly capable 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. If that's not enough torque for you, you'll find what you're looking for with the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6! This cranks out 260 horsepower and a hefty 442 lb-ft of torque. All that torque is available at just 1,400 RPM to make rock crawling a breeze. The V6 engine pairs with a 6-speed manual transmission while an 8-speed automatic is available. The diesel engine comes linked to an 8-speed automatic. The Gladiator's most impressive features are those that make its off-road prowess so amazing. Heavy-duty Dana 44 solid axles, standard all-wheel drive with a transfer case, an off-road-tuned suspension, all-terrain tires, and up to 11 inches of ground clearance, and more all make the Gladiator the best truck for all road surfaces.

2021 Jeep Gladiator Features & Design

Designed to mirror the world-renowned Wrangler, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator has the iconic seven-slot grille with round headlights on either side, a high and wide stance, trapezoidal wheel wells, and 17-inch wheels. It also features the Wrangler's removable soft top and doors and a fold-down windshield for the legendary open-air freedom. The Gladiator is designed to get dirty, which is why inside you'll find drain plugs for easy washout. Some standard features include a three-position tailgate, cargo bed lighting, a 5-inch infotainment touchscreen, tinted rear glass, locking storage behind the rear seats, and skid plates for the fuel tank and transfer case. Available options or features on higher trim levels include a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, black or body-colored 3-piece hardtops, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, leather-trimmed seats, fog lights, and more. The top two trims, Mojave and Rubicon both bring more off-road capability with an electronic locking rear differential, FOX suspension components, high-clearance fender flares, 33-inch all-terrain tires, an electronic locking front differential, an electronic disconnecting sway bar, full time 4x4 with a transfer case, and off-road cruise control.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Features & Design

While the Gladiator gives a rugged and aggressive appearance, the Colorado has more of a rounded shape which gives it less of a commanding road presence. Chevy makes the Z71 and ZR2 trim levels to provide some off-road capability with off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, and an optional off-road package with a taller and wider stance, a more aggressive front end, and Multimatic shocks. Standard features include a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, smartphone integration, and 16-inch wheels. Upper-level trims include an 8-inch touchscreen, 17-inch wheels, body-color door handles, and a diesel or V6 engine. Options like fog lights are available to be added to the Colorado.

Conclusion:

We give credit where it's due, so it's worth noting that the Chevy Colorado does offer some nice interior features, but the truth is that the Gladiator's off-road capability is unrivaled by the Colorado, even its off-road-focused trims.
