We here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM want to help, which is why we have taken two of the best models out there in the Grand Cherokee L and the Chevy Traverse and compared their engine options and features, so you have a better idea of which one is best for you and your family. There is a lot to like about both of these SUVs, and we think either one would make a terrific addition to your garage, but there is one with a distinct advantage over the other. To find out which SUV our experts think you should be driving home, continue reading below!
2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Power & Handling
Because the Grand Cherokee L is a Jeep vehicle, you know that it will have no problem in the power department. Under the hood, you get your choice of two engine options. Standard on most trims is a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque which pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission that will provide you with one of the smoothest rides around. Looking for some towing prowess? The V6 is great for that as it can haul up to 6,200 pounds. If you're looking for a little more power, the Grand Cherokee L also offers you a 5.7-liter V8 engine that produces 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque that will also pairs with the smooth sailing eight-speed automatic transmission. The V8 also ups the towing power to 7,200 pounds. Four-wheel-drive is available for the Grand Cherokee L for some more added traction.
2021 Chevy Traverse Power & Handling
With only one available engine option, the Chevy Traverse tries its best to keep up with what the Grand Cherokee L offers. When you lift the hood, the Traverse will greet you with a decent 3.6-liter V6 engine that comes with 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque which pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. Towing is okay for the Traverse as it can haul up to 5,000 pounds, but that is less than what the Grand Cherokee L can offer you. We wish that the Traverse had a V8 option for some added power, but sadly it doesn't.
2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Features & Design
Want some technological innovation? You'll get it with the Grand Cherokee L! Available is a 10.1-inch touchscreen that stretches out nicely across the instrument panel and adds a digital gauge cluster and a spectacular touchscreen radio. Inside the interior, you get some amazing upgrades such as LED lighting, driver and front passenger seat massage, personalized climate zones, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. If you have a large family, you're going to want a lot of safety features on your SUV, and the Grand Cherokee L has advanced safety systems in spades. It comes with Foward Collision, Active Lane Management, Blind Spot Monitoring with Cross Path, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go. There is also innovation with the safety systems, such as an L2 driver-assist system with hands-on automated driving, 360-degree surround view, and night vision.
2021 Chevy Traverse Features & Design
Seven trims are available for the Traverse, and there are some fun features available for each. The base trim is the L, which comes with18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, heated outside mirrors, cloth upholstery, triple-one climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen with onboard WI-Fi and Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Then there is the LT Cloth what the L brings you with heated front seats, a power-adjustable power seat, remote engine start, an 8-inch high-definition touchscreen, and a power liftgate. Higher trims add more luxury and performance-enhanced features, including a heated steering wheel, blacked-out styling cues, LED headlights, a hands-free liftgate, heated and ventilated rear seats, and wireless device charging. Topping the range is the High Country, with some interesting innovations such as a panoramic sunroof, several trailering enhancements, and a power-folding third-row seat. We like a lot of what the Traverse offers, but the Grand Cherokee L has more innovation
