Recharge
The battery can be fully recharged in approximately 2 hours using an available Level II charger (240-volt), or 12 hours using the included Level I charger (120-volt). With the ability to charge at home and work, you can enjoy the benefits of fully electric daily commutes.
Regenerative Braking
This feature allows the battery to be charged when decelerating and braking. The Max Regeneration feature remaps the accelerator pedal to command more aggressive regen at low pedal positions. It allows you to slow the vehicle down without the brake pedal, but a complete stop always requires the brake pedal. It also stays selected until you turn it off.

The Wrangler 4xe powertrain is a flawless combination of a gas-powered internal combustion engine and an electric vehicle (EV) system. The gas-powered engine is a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine. For the EV system, Jeep uses one engine-mounted electric generator where the traditional alternator would be and another transmission-mounted generator in place of the traditional torque converter. The Wrangler 4xe gets 49 miles per gallon, has a 370-mile combined driving range, and a 25-mile electric-only driving range. The 8-speed automatic transmission sends torque to all four wheels with Jeep’s legendary Selec-Trac 4x4 system with 4-High and 4-Low modes.

With the location of the transmission-mounted electric generator, the engine torque is sent to the wheels instantly, meaning you don’t have to build up engine revolutions to get the wheels to move over a trail obstacle. Additionally, turning on electric mode when you hit the trails gives you a nearly silent ride, allowing you to remove the top and doors and fully embrace the nature around you with little to no engine noise. While this is very true, Jeep made sure that the battery pack was sealed off under the rear seat and placed a skid plate below it for additional protection.
