The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 rated at 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a standard 8-speed automatic transmission, and comes with standard rear-wheel drive. However, all four trim levels in the Grand Cherokee L lineup offer available 4-wheel drive with one of three available 4X4 systems. The second engine option is available for the Overland and Summit, which is the 5.7-liter V8 rated at 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with standard 4-wheel drive, with the Quadra-Trac II system for the Overland, and the Quadra-Drive II system for the Summit. The Overland also adds off-road features like the Quadra-Lift Air Suspension system, front tow hooks, and hill-descent control.
