Can you tell us about the trim levels and the features available for the 2019 model year?
Like years before, the Wrangler will be offered in two body styles. They include a two-door, four-passenger model and a four-door, five-passenger model known as the Unlimited. There are a total of four trim levels available -- the Sport, Sport S, Sahara (Unlimited only), and Rubicon. The Sport trim starts the Wrangler off with the features that make it so iconic including the folding windshield, removable full-metal doors, crank windows, full-size spare tire, tow hooks, skid plates, and 17-inch steel wheels. Other standard features include cruise control, a 5-inch touchscreen interface, Bluetooth, Uconnect, rearview camera, eight-speaker sound system, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, air conditioning, and manual mirrors and locks. The higher trim levels add on more features like a larger touchscreen, smartphone integration, premium leather upholstery, hardtops, automatic headlights, additional USB ports, premium audio systems, and more!
What kind of powertrain options are offered in this model year?
There are two capable and efficient powertrain options available for the 2019 model year. The standard engine you'll find powering most of the Wrangler models is the Pentastar that is widely used throughout the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram family. This 3.6L V6 pumps out 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This engine offers two transmission options -- a eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. Depending on the drivetrain configuration and transmission you choose you can expect to get 23 to 25 miles per gallon on the highway. The second powertrain option offered in the 2019 model year is a 2.0-Liter turbo 4-cylinder that produces 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This engine only comes paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the body style you opt for you can expect to get 24-25 mpg on the highway according to EPA estimations.
Can you talk about the off-roading capabilities?
There are three four-wheel-drive systems available for the Wrangler and each model boasts the Trail-Rated badge for superior off-roading capabilities. What is Trail-Rated you ask? This badge means the Wrangler was put to the test in areas like ground clearance, articulation, maneuverability, water fording, and traction so you can tackle whatever the road or trail may bring! The first 4x4 system is known as the Selec-Trac system -- this system features a full-time mode that will switch from 2WD to 4WD automatically. The second 4x4 system is the Command-Trac. This lets you engage 4x4 power when the situation calls for it. It's a shift-on-the-fly system and offers low range gearing for the best adventures! The final system is the Rock-Trac. This system is only found on Rubicon models combining an electronic front sway bar disconnect, electronic locking front and rear differentials, and off-road transfer case with low gear ratio for exceptional off-roading!
