About Wildomar California

Wildomar resides in the southern county of Riverside, settled by the nearby Lake Elsinore during the 1880s during expansion of the California Southern Railroad network. The town was named after a combination of the primary entrepreneurs' names of its founding, William Collier, Donald Graham, and Margaret Collier Graham (wife of Donald and sister of William). The railroad struggled throughout the early 20th century due to harsh rains and washouts until its eventual abandonment in 1935. Of late, the area has seen a resurgence of interest and growing population thanks to the 1985 completion of the Temecula Valley Freeway. Throughout the 2000s to the present year, the population of the area has more than doubled, becoming a popular suburban area thanks to being halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, both only a little over an hour's drive away.
