Most people don't want to spend a lot of time at the garage, but doing some of these will allow your Jeep to have a long life. There are many ways that the changing of the season can affect your vehicle, and it's vitally important that you prepare for the changing of the season from summer to fall. We have some tips that you can use, and when you're ready, make an appointment with our experts here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM! We look forward to working on your Jeep!

Have your Fluids Checked

Having your vehicle's fluids checked is one of the most critical maintenance routines you can do. These various fluids are used to lubricate, cool, and perform other critical functions that keep your car running and driving effectively. Be sure to have our experts here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM check your underhood fluids such as your engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid, as well as your transmission fluid if your Jeep comes with a dipstick. If you don't have a dipstick, then check your power steering fluid. Many newer Jeeps come with different assemblies, including a differential and transfer case underneath the vehicle. You need to check these fluids regularly, and you can always have our experts here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM do this for you!

Check the Tires

While checking your tires might not seem all that exciting, it doesn't mean you should ignore them! Your tires are essential, and they affect your Jeep's ability to brake, your ability to handle your Jeep, and the overall safety. Take a few moments out of your day to inspect your Jeep's tires to make sure they are in good condition. You can also check your tire tread -depth by using a reliable gauge. Take your measurements at three different points across the tire, including the outer tread, center tread, and inner tread. If you have 4/32" of tread remaining at any point, you should have your tires replaced here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM! Keep in mind that a thread depth reading of 2/23" inches is a safety matter and should be replaced immediately. You should also test your tire pressure, and if you are low on air, you can fill them up at any gas station.

Check Your Lights

With the summer coming to an end, the nighttime will come earlier in the day. So, if you are coming home from work, it might be dark out, so you're going to make sure that your lights work. You can have a friend make sure that all of your exterior lights are working, such as brake and exterior lights. If you have a non-functional light, it can be viewed as a safety hazard, and you should get it replaced here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM immediately so you can drive safely during the nighttime this fall!

Have Wiper Blades Checked

While rain might be a rarity in certain places in California, we still do get the occasional downpours, and you need to be prepared by having good wiper blades. You can check your wiper blades by truing on the windshield wipers and windshield washer. If you have a good set of blades, they won't leave any streaks, and your windshield will be clear. Have our team here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM replace your wiper blades if they don't perform well. You should also consider replacing your washer fluid if it's dirty or contaminated.

Check Your Brakes

Your Jeep's brakes might be the most important thing on your vehicle. They should be checked twice a year to make sure they are in working order, leading to worse problems down the line. Your brakes are considered worn out if there is less than 4mm of friction material remaining, and most professionals recommend having your brake pads replaced, and a reading of 3 mm or less indicates that your brakes are a safety hazard and need to be replaced as soon as possible. If you find your brakes are making a squeak or grinding noise, be sure to make an appointment with our experts here at Temecula Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM!
