Tires are one of the most important parts of your vehicle, and we are here to help you take care of them to ensure they keep you safe, so keep reading!

What to do:

Rotate Your Tires Regularly: The tires that are on the front end of your vehicle tend to wear out faster than the tires that are in the rear of your vehicle. This is because the front tires turn when you are going around bends. It is important that you rotate your Dodge Challenger’s tires roughly every 6,000 miles, or when your service advisor here at DCH dictates so all four tires wear evenly as possible.

Monitor the Tire Pressure: Each vehicle, from Jeep to Dodge and Chrysler all have their own specifications for how much air should be in the tires based on the drivetrain configuration, suspension, and vehicle weight. Your owner’s manual or the sticker on the inside of the driver’s door jamb will tell you exactly how much air pressure should be in your tires. Using a gauge check the current pressure and then fill them up if necessary. Your tires should not be higher or lower than the recommended pressure by more than 5 PSI.

Check the Tire Tread: Your tire treads are essential to your safety and the safety of those in vehicles around you, especially when road conditions are less than ideal. You can perform the “penny test” to monitor the tread of your tires. Take a penny and place it head down into the tread. If you can see the top of President Lincoln’s head it is time for a new set of tires, if part of the head is still obscured by the tire’s tread, there is life left in your tires and you are not in need of a new set!

Wheel Alignment: Potholes and bumps in the road can cause your wheels to become unaligned. When your wheels are no longer aligned as they should be, your tires can wear unevenly and even wear excessively reducing their lifespan. We recommend you bring your vehicle down to our service department for a wheel alignment at least once a year.
