The Dodge Hornet is a compact utility vehicle, or CUV, which lies in between the Charger and the Durango in terms of size. This gives drivers the best of both worlds with its more robust frame that still feels compact. Plus, the Hornet offers two trim levels, and two powertrain options. What are the Powertrain Options of the Dodge Hornet?
The 2023 Dodge Hornet features two trim level options, the R/T, and the GT. Both models feature standard all-wheel drive, which gives you the extra traction you need to drive on slippery roads, or in the snow. The R/T is an innovative plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, or PHEV! This model features a hybrid powertrain that combines an engine with a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery to produce up to 285 horsepower, and 383 lb-ft of torque. When you’re behind the wheel of the R/T, you can enjoy up to 30 miles of all-electric range. The other trim level, the G/T, comes with another highly anticipated upgrade, which is teh Hurricane4 engine. This is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that’s more fuel efficient than previous engines we’ve seen within the Dodge lineup! This engine delivers 265 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The GT can accelerated from 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds, while the R/T can achieve a time of 6.1 seconds with the help of the PowerShot button!
What Design Features does the 2023 Dodge Hornet Offer?
As we mentioned above, the Dodge Hornet features a new silhouette for the Dodge family, which combines design cues of both the Charger and the Durango. The Hornet has a bold front-end appearance featuring a slim “mail slot” front grille opening, and the classic Dodge Rhombii emblem. The R/T includes features like 18-inch wheels in Graphite Grey, while the GT features 17-inch silver wheels. Both models offer two available packages, like the Track Pack which includes 20-inch wheels. There’s also the Blacktop package for a bolder look, with blacked-out features, Gloss Black badging, and Gloss Black painted day light opening molding. Inside, you’ll find a black-upholstered interior with standard red accent stitching for both the R/T and GT. If you’re looking for a more luxurious look and feel, you can opt for available Alcantara suede, or read leather seats! The dashboard is driver-focused, with everything angled forward to put you in full control.
What Tech and Performance Features does the Dodge Hornet Have?
No Dodge vehicle would be complete without an impressive selection of performance features The Hornet certainly delivers in this area, with features like four-piston and six-piston Brembo performance brakes, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddle shifters. When you drive the R/T, you’ll have three selectable drive modes, the Hybrid Mode, Electric Mode, and eSave Mode. These allow you to choose how you’d like to utilize your vehicle’s power, whether you’d like to use the gas tank, the battery pack, or both simultaneously! In Electric Mode, you can enjoy up to 30 miles of all-electric range. The GT has some exciting options of its own, including Sport Mode, which gives you a more athletic stance featuring stiffer suspension, and precise steering. The Hornet offers Koni damping shocks as standard equipment on both trim levels, and there’s also an Intelligent Braking System for the R/T that utilizes a brake-by-wire mechanism. In terms of tech, the Hornet features a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
