About Riverside California
Riverside is part of the Greater Los Angeles area in Riverside County, California. The city was founded in the early 1870s by John North and is the birthplace of the Californian citrus industry. The first trees were planted in 1871 and flourished; by 1874, the citrus industry began as the trees continued to thrive in the southern California climate. By 1882, there were more than a half-million citrus trees in the state, half of which were planted in Riverside.
