Jeep Off-Roading in Southern CA

Summer is just around the corner which means it is finally off-roading season! With everything from deserts to sky high waterfalls surrounded by vegetation, Southern California has a little bit of everything. Depending on what sights you feel like exploring that day we recommend visiting Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Los Padres National Forest, San Bernardino National Forest, and Sequoia National Park.

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is California’s largest state park protecting more than 600,000 acres. The state park was named after famous Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza who crossed the desert in 1774 and borrego the Spanish word for sheep. The desert preserve is filled with cactus-studded hills, palm oases, slot canyons, and loads of badlands. While your visiting Anza-Borrego State Park take the 4WD only 4-mile road out to Font’s Point. Nicknamed California’s Grand Canyon, Font’s Point is the best place to view the parks badlands. Other scenic spots include Diablo Dropoff, Hills of the Moon, and 17 Palm Oasis.

Take a break from the desert and visit the approximately 1,950,000 acre Los Padres National Forest. From north to south the forest encompasses 220 miles and is home to redwood forest, oak woodlands, grasslands, mixed conifer forests, desert areas, pinyon juniper stands, chaparral, and over 468 fish and wildlife species. While you’re out there we recommend visiting Bear Canyon Loop, Big Rocks Road, and the Dallinger and Deer Park areas.

San Bernardino National Forest featuring beautiful mountains and numerous caves. The park features a ton of off-road trails with varying levels of difficulties so there is something for everyone. The John Bull Trail features intense drop-offs and tons of boulders to climb over. Other notable trails include North Lake Arrowhead, Cajon Pass North, North and East of Big Bearm and West of Idyllwild.

There is no other place on earth like Sequoia National Park with the world’s largest trees, valleys, and caverns. The park has over 404,064-acres filled with off-road vehicle trails and several camping spots only accessible by 4x4 vehicles. Mineral King trails feature steep winding roads with beautiful scenery. Cedar Grove has beautiful cascading waterfalls, the Kings River, and huge cliffs.

Explore all of it from the driver's seat of your 4x4 Jeep vehicle! With Trail Rated legendary off-road capability nothing can stand in your way from reaching the end of the trail and viewing jaw-dropping sceneries.
