Regular Car Maintenance You Shouldn't Skip

Your vehicle is a finely tuned machine, which means to keep it running in tip-top shape you need to make sure you perform regular maintenance on your vehicle. Your vehicle is probably one of the biggest purchases you’ll make and you’re going to want to keep it in pristine condition. Keeping your vehicle in the best condition possible is going to save you a ton of money in the long run. Skipping regular maintenance can turn what would have been a simple and rather inexpensive job into a complicated high-priced job. So save yourself money and keep your vehicle running like new by getting the following regular maintenance done.

One of the most important vehicle maintenance items is regularly getting your oil and oil filter changed. Now you’ve probably heard the age old saying you should get your oil changed every 3,000 miles that’s not necessarily true. With full synthetic oil and advances in engineering and technology some vehicles can go as long as 10,000 miles or 6 months before needing an oil change. If you’re not sure when you’re supposed to get your oil changed, no worries, just give us a call and we’d be happy to inform you.

Maybe you’ve heard before that getting regular oil changes is one of the best things you can do for your vehicle but you’re not sure why that is, let us explain. Fresh oil lubricates your engine and allows your vehicle to perform at the top of its game. When oil gets old it starts to break down and can no longer properly lubricate your engine. Over time particles from your engine will get into your oil and further break down your oil. Ignoring oil changes and allowing old, broken down oil to run through your engine can seriously damage your motor. Trust us, you'd rather pay for regular oil changes than a new motor.

When you go in for your regularly scheduled oil service it’s a good idea to have your air filters checked. You have air filters in your cabin and in your engine. Your cabin air filter, filters the air that is pumped into your cabin. A clean cabin air filter provides you with clean fresh air and makes for a more comfortable ride. Your engine air filter, on the other hand, prevents environmental contaminants from getting into your engine. Since your vehicle is a finely tuned piece of machinery you don’t want anything getting into it that isn’t supposed to be there.

Another important item to regularly pay attention to, is your tires. Replacing all four tires at once is rather expensive and the best way to prevent having to replace them all at once is by regularly rotating and balancing them. You’re also going to want to have an alignment done while your having your tires rotated and balanced. Rotating and balancing your tires makes sure they wear evenly and makes for a smooth drive. An alignment ensures your car is always driving straight ahead. If your alignment is off you’ll find your vehicle is trying to pull you to either the left of right while you’re trying to drive in a straight line.

Keeping with a regular maintenance schedule is easy thanks to the folks at our service department. You can easily set up an appointment online or simply give us a call and we’ll get you in as soon as possible.
