Pre-Owned and Clean Vehicle Rebate
The first rebate you can get for purchasing an eclectic vehicle here in California is the pre-owned vehicle rebate. When you get a pre-owned electric vehicle, you could be eligible for a $1,000 or $4,000 rebate which is calculated based on your household income. You need to make sure that you apply within 180 days for the purchase or lease of your pre-owned EV to determine your eligibility. This program is funded through the SCE's participation in the Low Carbon Fuel Standard Program, which has been operated through the California Air Resources Board since 2009 as part of a statewide effort to reduce gas emissions. You can also get a Clean Vehicle Rebate if you buy or lease a zero-emission or plug-in hybrid such as the Wrangler or Grand Cherokee 4xe, which could gain you up to $4,500
Consumer Assistance Program and Clean Air Decals
With the Consumer Assistance Program's vehicle retirement option, specific customers will be given the opportunity to retire their current vehicle. The drivers who meet the income eligibility requirement can receive up to $1,500 for every vehicle they turn in. All other owners could revive up to $1,000 to retire their gasoline-powered vehicle at one of the BAR-contracted dismantlers. To determine your eligibility and your incentive amount, you can fill out an application on the BAR website. In addition, if you are riding around in an eligible clean air vehicle, you may be able to get a decal from your local DMV that will give you single-driver access to much of California's HOV lanes.
Replacing your Vehicle
You can replace your older, gasoline-powered vehicle with an electric or hybrid vehicle and then receive around $9,500! The program is available to all residing vehicle owners in the South Coast Management District's jurisdiction who meet the income and vehicle requirements. You can fill out an application form on their website, but keep in mind that the goal is to replace the oldest and highest-polluting vehicles first, so in order to qualify, your vehicle must be from the year 2007 or older. In addition, the E-bike option is now available instead of a clean replacement vehicle.
Rates for Electric Vehicles
Time-of-use rates are of good use to all kinds of EV drivers. When you are on a time-of-use plan, you will be able to take advantage of great electricity rates during low-use hours. With the TOU-D-PRIME Rate, certain EV drivers will find other lower rates during the morning hours, early afternoon, and overnight. In addition, you will also save with lower electricity rates before 4 pm and after 9 pm. Also, if you install a second meter for charging your electric vehicle, you could be eligible for a monthly meter credit.
