Winter is finally coming to end which means warmer weather is around the corner! You are probably ready to break out of your hibernation and hit the trails for some good and muddy fun in your Jeep. It’s important to make sure that before you embark on your great adventures, your Jeep model is up to the task! Cold winter weather and icy, salt-treated roads can wreak havoc on your Jeep model and spring is the perfect time to give your Jeep a once over and make sure it is rearing to go! Keep reading to learn more about our tips to make sure your Jeep is ready for spring!

The Checklist:

Change Your Oil and Oil Filter:
You should always consult your Jeep’s owner’s manual to make sure that you are changing your oil at the appropriate intervals, this is the best way to make sure your engine runs problem-free. When you neglect to change your oil when necessary, your engine performance can suffer, resulting in higher fuel consumption.

Check All Other Fluids:
In addition to changing your oil and oil filter, take the time to check all your fluids. These include your power steering, transmission, and brake fluids as well as coolant and windshield wiper fluids. If you notice that any of these fluids are low, top them off. It is important to note that your coolant, brake and power steering systems are closed, so if you notice they are low, that may mean there is a leak. Give our service department a call right away if you do see this!

Replace Your Windshield Wipers:
Our windshield wipers take a beating in the winter months, clearing ice, snow, and slush kickback from the windshield so that we can see properly when driving. It’s important to swap them out for fresh blades so when you do need to utilize them in the spring months, you are ready!

Check Your Battery:
The cold weather during the winter months is not kind to the battery inside your Jeep, now is a great time to set up an appointment with our service department to test it. You should also ensure that your battery is mounted properly and that the connections are tight and corrosion-free. If you notice that your battery is more than five years old, consult with our service department on whether or not you should replace it.

Check Your Lights:
Springtime is a great opportunity to make sure all your lights, both inside and outside of your Jeep, are working properly. If you notice that your headlights are looking a little foggy, take the time to clean them up so that you can ensure the best visibility when driving around after dark.

Check Your Tire Tread:
The tires on your Jeep are the only point of contact between you and the road or the trail, and it’s important that the tread is in good condition and that they are properly inflated. If you see any uneven or irregular wear, speak with our service department about getting an alignment or a new set of tires!
